Blog Oct. 26

This week in history, Oct. 26, I learned marvelous things. I learned in
more detail about the Mexican American War. That included, how it started,
how long it was. It started with the debate of the Rio Grande and Nueces.
Mexico itself was in no condition to be in a war, first off they lacked
money, and had not very good history in battling wars. Santa Ana wanted to
start war when the deputes about the border got more in depth, the
president at that time thought it was bogus to have a war with a poor
country so he said no! But when there was our men being killed on our land
it was not okay! Therefore President Polk stated that war has begun. Question: Should states require welfare recipients to pass drug tests?

This week you were gone, and we watched videos on youtube about the
Mexican American war and answered questions about them. Then on wednesday
we worked on a timeline in class. We learned about what happened in the
battles, the important battles, and people. Question: Why did the Mexicans want the Americans on their land?

-Jaimee Grenier

This week I learned about the expansion of America. I also learned about
Nationalism, Tariff, Nullification, Manifest Destiny, Sectional, and
Jacksonian Democracy. We also took notes about the Indian Removal Act.

This is my blog post for 10-20-11

This week I learned about manifest destiny ans nullification. Manifest
destiny is how Amercans wanted to expand the new world and get land coast
to coast. Nullification is a word I learnd today. The case that helped
dvide the U.S. was to do with nullification witch means to void a law but
it is not succssesfull.
This week in history we took notes on Manifest Destiny, Expanding into Texas and New Territories that we got. That was what we did on Tuesday. On Thursday we worked on vocabulary words. And we also also got asked a question to go with the vocabulary words, "How do events connected to these terms leads to devision of the United States?" We started to take notes but then we stopped because we ran out of time.

Question: Why did it take so long for us to expand around the country?

Blog Post

This week in history class we learned  what the Manifest Destiny was and about the Annexation of Texas. We had to write and essay and answer the question "How did expansion shape American Identity" in five paragraphs. We went over some of the reasons about the expansion westward and how it affected the United States.
Question: Why did it take so long for the united states to expand.

This week in our History class we only had one class. In this one class I
learned about the Indian Removal and how states were ratified. It amazes
me how history repeats itself so often. I learned that during the Indian
removal everything was split down the middle. Some politicians were for
the Indian removal and others were against it. It was the same with the
Native Americans, some were against the Americans and some sided with
them, hoping to keep peace. I also did not know that the Trail of Tears
was so long and that so many Native Americans died on that journey. Almost
a quarter of Native Americans died.
My question for this week is; Why were colonists not content with the
thirteen colonies? Why did they need to expand, harming the North American
culture and population?
